A Few Quick Notes

More in just a minute, but I wanted to throw these few quick thoughts out there.

Smoking update: Things are going pretty well here at the start of week two. I can’t say I’ve really had physical cravings for a cigarette, but I have had some “habit” cravings. What I mean by that, I am looking for a smoke at those times I habitually had one: With my morning coffee, starting the drive to work, after supper, etc. Surprisingly, I haven’t missed the ones I might be expected to miss, like when I take a break at work. What experience have you other quitters had? And, how long does it take for taste buds and sense of smell to come back?

(Yet Another) New Theme: I haven’t been able to leave the theme alone here lately. I do really like this one. I have to add/modify a few things, most importantly adding the Day by Day code. I promise I’ll have that working tonight. Do you like it? I just thought of something, are nested comments set up? I’ll have to go check.

Yes, I’m playing around again

It’s a long weekend, so I’m playing around with the theme again. While I’m doing that I’ve broken out this oldie but goodie.

I’m also getting some things ready for tonight’s Independence Day Warm-up.

Finally, for now, an update on this post. When I wrote that two days ago I had 29 cigarettes left. Right now that number is down to one. Even that is quite a reduction in normal consumption. The good news, yeah I know there’s all that health stuff too, is that I haven’t given the state of Florida or the federal government any more money. And I’m not going to.

I really liked quite a bit about the other theme, but the dislikes made me change back, at least for now. I’ve got a busy weekend ahead I see.

Still Tweaking

I’m still working on some adjustments to the new theme. I have lightened the background color for posts and made the text itself black. (It was a very dark brown)

Dana said that in IE6 the content was pushed down the page. I would appreciate someone taking a look now and see if it renders as it should. I hope that I’ve discovered a great fix. Dean Edwards has made, “a JavaScript library to make Microsoft Internet Explorer behave like a standards-compliant browser.” Read about it here. View the project here.

It doesn’t seem to have created any issues in FF. Of course I would appreciate knowing if your experience is different. Thanks

Theme Change and Tweaking

I’ve switched over to a new theme, as you can see. I know this theme is quite a bit like the old one, but that is likely to change as I play around with things. After all, playing around with the site is what weekends are for.

One thing you’ll notice is that you can place a post in the featured category and it will appear on the top of the first page. That featured post will remain on top until you remove it from the featured category or make a newer post featured.

Everything appears to be working, but please let me know if you find something that is goofy. That doesn’t apply to the posts. I already know how goofy they are.

I am working on modifications to a new theme for the site. You can take a look at what it currently looks like at the test blog. Please let me know what you think, and any suggestions you might have.
