First CupLast comes the beverage of the Orient shore, Mocha, far off, the fragrant berries bore. Taste the dark fluid with a dainty lip, Digestion waits on pleasure as you sip. ~ Pope Leo XII

Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) Reid Offers To Disclose His Land Deal … Five Years Late — “Disclosures now are pointless. The Ethics panel needs to order a full investigation not just into the $700,000 profit, but all of Reid’s business partners and any legislation or intervention with federal regulators Reid pushed on their behalf.”

Iowa Voice (Brian) This Is Why The Left Doesn’t Like The Idea Of Photo IDs Pt II — “The point is, if groups like ACORN are going to register the dead or sign up the same person more than once, then there must be safegaurds in place to prevent fraud. And making people show an ID and prove citizenship is a good first step.”

Right Wing News (John Hawkins) The Final Rightroots Blogburst — “Rightroots was formed in July, went live in August, and as of today we’ve raised $211,451. That’s not too bad for a group of bloggers who were figuring out this whole fund raising gig on the fly.” [Click here, or on the Rightroots ads in the left sidebar to find out more or to donate. Jim]

Blogrolling is still not showing updated blogs. Blogspot blogs are iffy. This will have to do for now.

Right Wing News (John Hawkins) The Rightroots 15 Day Challenge: Success! — “With the clock ticking down, people wanted to step up and help us succeed.

Well, guess what? It worked. All of our candidates hit their donation goals:”

Iowa Voice (Brian) California Dem Sues Automakers Over Global Warming — “Every single day you see something in the news that conflicts with what was reported the day before. First, we’re warming up. Then we’re cooling down. Then we’re heating up again. Last year, Katrina was the signal that we’d reached the tipping point and that we could expect far, far worse things (so far this year, nothing). Thirty years ago, it was global cooling. Now it’s global warming. We were headed into an ice age. Now, we’re going to boil. Make up your minds already!”

The Jawa Report (Vinnie aka Dr. Vinnie Huskerfan) Hamid Mir On Glenn Beck Show — A great overview of Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir’s comments on the Glenn Beck show.

ScrappleFace (Scott Ott) GOP Funds Ahmadinejad-Chavez Speaking Tour — ” “President Bush can talk about his national security plan and foreign policy all day long,” said an unnamed RNC spokesman, “But no one makes a more compelling case than the duo of Mahmoud and Hugo. We want to make sure every American has an opportunity to hear these important world leaders.” ” [Once again Scott shows how his outstanding humor is rooted in dead-on accuracy. Jim]

And if there is any way you could drop something in the tip jar:

Thanks!

Just a quick update regarding the Rightroots 15 Day Challenge. As of 9:10 EDT Rightroots has raised a total of $88,460.18 for the 21 candidates.

House candidate Diana Irey (PA-12) and Senate candidate Michael Steele (MD) have both received over 100 donations for the challenge. Senate candidate Mark Kennedy is next closest, but still needs 18 donations to cross the challenge finish line.

Mike Whalen (IA-01) is the furthest from meeting the challenge (39). In all, 8 of the 21 candidates need 50 or more donations in the next few days.

The Rightroots 15 Day Challenge continues through September 20th. If at all possible, please help support these candidates today. Even small donations will help.

You can also help by spreading the word about the challenge during these last few days. If you post something about the Rightroots campaign you can link to this post and create a trackback to appear below.

The Rightroots Campaign, for those who may not be aware, is an effort to help raise funds for Republicans trying to capture contested seats or knock off a Democratic incumbent. Started on August 1st this year, it has already raised over $70,000.

On September 6th they started their 15 Day Challenge.

Over the next 15 days, our goal is to pull in 100 donations per candidate. That won’t be an easy goal to hit, but we can make it with your help. So, if you’ve been planning to chip in some money to Rightroots, now’s the time to do it. Moreover, maybe you’ve been thinking, “Gee, I only want to give 20 or 30 bucks.” Great! Split it into a couple of contributions and send it over. Every little bit you can send over will make a difference.

As we enter the final five days of the challenge, today’s blogburst is part of the push to meet the 100 donation per candidate goal.

You can help.

  • Join the blogburst. Write something on your blog today to let your readers know about the effort. Trackback to this post and/or John’s.
  • Talk about the 15 Day Challenge with your friends, family, and co-workers who may be willing to contribute.
  • Most of all — Contribute. Remember, it doesn’t need to be a lot. A few dollars to each candidate or a larger contribution to one or two.

Just give something to Rightroots. Today.

Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) A Bad Start For Al-Qaeda? — “For the fifth anniversary of 9/11, al-Qaeda’s executive officer Ayman al-Zawahiri celebrated by publishing a video that threatened a new phase in the group’s offensive against the West. In this new effort, the Egyptian terror leader told viewers that AQ would now target Gulf states, including oil facilities, that cooperated with the infidels. Foiled attacks on a Yemeni refinery and a Canadian-Yemeni storage facility appears to have launched the AQ offensive, but both failed to achieve their mission objectives:”

Outside The Beltway (James Joyner) Al Qaeda Declares France Enemy — “Does this prove that France was wrong not to join the U.S. in its effort to topple Saddam Hussein and establish a democratic bulwark against Islamists in Iraq? No. But it does seem to indicate that there’s not much a Western state can do to appease the terrorists.”

Right Wing News (John Hawkins) Rightroots Blogburst — “Our goal is to get 100 donations per candidate by the end of the day on Sept. 20 and we can use all the help we can get from across the blogosphere to make that happen.” [I'll have more on this later. Jim]

Right Truth (Debbie) Summit on U.S. and Muslim relations – “Time for some debunkification, if that is a word. Yes, we ARE at war with Islam and Muslims and Islamic fundamentalism and Islamo-fascism. WE, the United States did not declare this war, Muslims declared this war, Osama bin Laden declared this war. So if you don’t like the label, go talk to the ones who began this conflict.”

Blogs for Bush (Mark Noonan) The Propaganda War — “Yesterday, President Bush gave an excellent speech on the overall War on Terrorism – once again, and with carefully measured words, the President stated who we fight and why we fight.”

Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) Iran Purges Its Intellegentsia — “Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has engaged on a campaign to purge moderates and secular thinkers from its universities. The move comes in contrast to Ahmadinejad’s challenge to George Bush for an open and uncensored debate, and shows the real inclinations of the mullahcracy:”

Wizbang (Lorie Byrd) Time Is Running Out — “The Rightroots coalition has a big announcement today. Not only have several new candidates been added to the Rightroots list, but today is the beginning of a challenge to those in the conservative blogosphere to secure 100 donations for each of the Rightroots candidates between now and September 20.”

Babalu Blog (Val Prieto) Take a deep breath — “If you guys think last nights imromptu celebrations caused by the news of the relinquishing of power were big, just wait until the news that the old goat is dead top be confirmed. Even clocks will stop in Miami that day.”

Right Wing News (John Hawkins) Rightroots: The Republican Answer To The Lefty Blogosphere’s Netroots Endorsed Candidates — [John, and his group of conservative bloggers, has put together a list of candidates deserving support. Read the post to find more details about this needed project. Jim] “Well, we know a lot of conservatives are tired of business as usual. So, there are no incumbents on this Rightroots approved list. We also know that a lot of conservatives have a hard time deciding who to donate to in contested primaries, so we stayed away from intraparty fights. Moreover, we know that conservatives don’t like wasting their money on surefire winners or surefire losers. So, we put together a list of 18 Republican challengers trying to capture contested seats or knock off a Democratic incumbent.”
