It is the start of a new month, and a start of a new 2012 Presidential Primary Poll. The results of poll #11 are in.

  • Mitt Romney – 33%
  • All other options and choices – 0%

There haven’t been any major additions to the field, and no one has dropped out, so your choices remain the same: Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, and “All The Rest”. If you pick “All The Rest” feel free to name your choice here in the comments. You can also let me know if you think I should include other candidates.

Random Bits

Just a few random thoughts for a Friday morning.

We are only a week away from September 1st. That’s how long you have to participate in the bRight & Early 2012 Presidential Primary Poll #11. The poll is in the sidebar, and although participation so far has been rather low, the results so far are rather one sided.

I still haven’t resolved the issue between the number showing at the bottom of the site and the number seen on my Sitemeter stats page, but both numbers are now over 500,000 — so it’s official.

Hurricane Irene is well off the Florida coast, but still could impact the Carolinas. Be safe up there.

It’s a Friday and I’m home from work. I was off yesterday, too. And, I’ll be off this weekend. A four day weekend sounds like a good thing, doesn’t it? Not in this case. Wednesday night Cindy was on the way to work and our VW Beetle died. She was 10 minutes away from work. I guess it was better then than when she gets off at 2am. Her daughter went and picked her up, but she missed a night of work that we needed (she works for tips). We had the car towed yesterday morning by our mechanic. After taking a look at things he informed us that we have a major short in the electrical system. When he gets the (expensive) repair done he will still have to take the car to the VW dealership to have the computer reset. He will work with us, but if you ever wanted to hit the tip jar, this would be a very good time.

UPDATE: We just heard from our mechanic. It wasn’t good news. He can’t fix it, and estimates that the dealership will charge us over $3500 to get it fixed. That’s more than the car is worth. We don’t have access to the money we would need for a down payment on something else. I’m working on that, but time is not on our side. If you can help, thank you so much. If you can’t do anything financially, can you point people to this post?

Poll #10 is now closed. Since changing the guidelines for the poll, we had a bit more participation. Here are the results:

The addition triggering the new poll is Rick Perry, who announced his candidacy this morning.

Following the Iowa Straw Poll today, I feel sure that there will be some changes to the field in the weeks to come. Candidates who didn’t do well, or didn’t do as well as expected, are going to be reevaluating their campaigns. A new poll will be posted when any of the listed candidates decide to “spend more time with their families”.

Last Chance for 2012 Presidential Primary Poll #10

It looks as if Gov. Rick Perry will be making it official tomorrow. That means today will be your last chance to vote in the bRight & Early 2012 Presidential Primary Poll #10. As I mentioned here, “The current poll will remain until 1)The end of the month, or 2)There is a major addition to the field.” I think we can safely say the Rick Perry will be a major addition to the field.

Well, have at it. While you have the chance.

A Little Poll Re-Think

I’ve been giving a bit of thought to the bRight and Early 2012 Presidential Primary Polls. We are still just over a year away from the convention, and months away from the first primaries. Most political junkies, let alone average voters, are yet to get engaged. Choices at this early point are still pretty fluid. The field isn’t even set, and some of the potential players could have a major impact.

With all of that in mind I have decided to stop making the poll a weekly one. Here are the new “rules”. Like the Pirate’s Code, their mostly guidelines. The current poll will remain until 1)The end of the month, or 2)There is a major addition to the field. The next poll will start at the beginning of the next with the same conditions. The only additional change will be if there are significant drop outs from the race. Finally, starting with the next poll I will be dropping the perennial candidates and those who said no, leaving only the undeclared super group.

What are you waiting for? Vote.

2012 Presidential Primary Poll #10

Poll #9 is finally closed. After a slow start we ended up with a fair number of votes and the following results:

  • Michele Bachmann — 50%
  • Herman Cain — 38%
  • A Perennial Candidate — 14%

Note, I did accidentally list A Perennial Candidate twice on this poll, and left off “An Undeclared Candidate”. The two percentages are combined.

Since we last met Buddy Roemer, Former Governor of Louisiana, has joined the fray.
