First CupBlack as the devil, hot as hell, pure as an angel, sweet as love. ~ Talleyrand

Blogs for Bush (Mark Noonan) Chavez in Perspective — “Not since the days of Hitler and Stalin has so much evil stalked the corridors of power in our world – and not since that time have such evil men been accorded respect, even deferrence, from men and women who should know better – men and women who would be executed were these evil men to gain power over them.”

Flopping Aces (Curt) Is America This Stupid? — “And this is something we should be proud of? A dictator coming to our country and mocking our ELECTED leader. You know, the guy who was freely elected to lead our country?

This is the difference between flaming liberals and the rest of us. If Saddam had come to our soil and did what Chavez did to Clinton I would be just as pissed off. No one comes to our country and mocks our leader.”

Blue Crab Boulevard Not Surprisingly — “They continue to attack using harsh and loaded language that is not at all accurate. All they are doing here is giving more misinformation that America’s enemies can point to. What the administration is doing is not torture, nor is it violation of the Geneva Conventions. The Conventions desperately need to be amended to address the reality of institutionalized illegal combatants – which is what we are really dealing with.”

Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) The Dishonesty In The Deficit — “We are about to pay for the dishonesty of successive Congresses and administrations stretching all the way back to the Eisenhower era. Both parties share the blame for this massive deception.”

The Strata-Sphere (A.J. Strata) Democrat’s Shade Truth On FISA-NSA — “The Democrats come limping into this fall’s elections attempting to show how they protect America by dismantling our anti-terrorist programs because someplace along the way they decided Bush is a bigger threat to us than Bin Laden and Al Qaeda.”

First CupThe morning cup of coffee has an exhilaration about it which the cheering influence of the afternoon or evening cup of tea cannot be expected to reproduce. ~ Oliver Wendall Holmes, Sr.

Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) Fast-Food Jihadists In Britain — “How can we prevent these disaffected citizens from transforming into traitors? Perhaps we can start by teaching children early about why Western freedoms and liberty hold the best promise for prosperity and happiness, and that life has intrinsic value. If we stop derogating our own culture and history, our children may learn to value it. They won’t then be tempted to sample drive-through philosophy in any form, especially the most virulent kinds.”

Flopping Aces (Curt) Judge Taylor Participated In $45,000 Donation To The ACLU — “A conflict of interest is coming to light in Judge Taylor’s past. You will recall that Judge Taylor is the one who wrote the idiotic opinion siding with the ACLU over the NSA wiretap case. Now Judicial Watch has found that she help make a $45,000 donation to the ACLU:” [Read the updates and the links as well. Jim]

First CupCoffee is a beverage that puts one to sleep when not drank. ~ Alphonse Allais

Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) Kerry Couldn’t Find Mainstream With Both Hands And A Flashlight — “In case Kerry doesn’t recognize it, and there’s no particular reason why he would considering his own legislative track record, that’s the mainstream in Connecticut. And unless the state has suddenly turned into Texas, Connecticut voters see little resemblance between Lieberman and Cheney. Maybe Kerry needs to reconsider his own relationship to the mainstream instead.”

Blue Crab Boulevard Court Jester — “John “Magic Hat” Kerry continues to show that he deserved to lose in the 2004 election. Today, he began excavating an even lower position for himself. The man who voted for the war in Iraq, then voted against funding the troops used his moral low ground to attack Joe Lieberman.”

Wizbang (Jay Tea) Jay and the giant imPeachment — “You know, I could almost go along with this impeachment silliness. The thought of the left devoting all that time and effort into removing Bush, then realizing that they’ve just handed the Oval Office to Dick Cheney, warms the cockles of my heart.”

Danny Carlton — Alias “Jack Lewis” My (lay) analysis of the NSA ruling — “She takes seriously the plaintiffs obsessive worries that the government is listening to their calls. What about my “well founded belief” that idiot judges are delivering us to violent terrorists like a well wrapped Christmas gift?”

Ankle Biting Pundits (Bull Dog Pundit) Hey Kofi-Shut Up About Israeli Raid Until UN Does Its Job — “If we pointed out every stupid thing Kofi Annan ever said, we’d have time to write about nothing else. But when he makes such galling statements, it deserves mention.”

First CupLast comes the beverage of the Orient shore, Mocha, far off, the fragrant berries bore. Taste the dark fluid with a dainty lip, Digestion waits on pleasure as you sip. ~ Pope Leo XII

The Jawa Report (Vinnie) The Lunatic/ Is In The Aisle — “I could be off my rocker, but someone acting crazy on a plane would be a nice distraction for someone trying to plant something on a plane.
I think our defenses are being probed. The cell phone stories, the airplane stories, a lot of s**t seems to be going on right at the moment.” [I think Vinnie's on to something here. Jim]

Stop The ACLU (jcb) Federal Court Rules Protecting America is Unconstitutional — “Many scoffed at the idea of framing resistance to the Patriot Act and the “warrantless wiretapping” programs as an attempt to establish an “Al Qaeda Bill of Rights”, however, with Judge Taylor’s ruling and the help of the ACLU, the shroud of the First Amendment has been extended to protect those who plot to kill Americans.”

Ankle Biting Pundits (Bull Dog Pundit) Carter Appointed Federal Judge Hands Victory To Al-Queda — “The first thing that strikes me is that how Judge dismissed the government’s claim that the Plaintiff’s could not prove their conversations were being monitored. She relied on the affidavits of lawyers and a journalist who admitted they had contacts with terrorist organizations and people accused of helping the insurgency in Iraq. So when faced with admissions of people that they are in contact with alleged terrorist organizations – the Judge ordered the government to stop listening.”

Short post this morning. Places to go, people to see.

Carter Appointed Judge Says No to NSA Program

Siding with the terrorists of the world and their friends the ACLU:

A federal judge ruled Thursday that the government’s warrantless wiretapping program is unconstitutional and ordered an immediate halt to it.

U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor in Detroit became the first judge to strike down the National Security Agency’s program, which she says violates the rights to free speech and privacy.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed the lawsuit on behalf of journalists, scholars and lawyers who say the program has made it difficult for them to do their jobs. They believe many of their overseas contacts are likely targets of the program, which involves secretly taping conversations between people in the U.S. and people in other countries. [My Emphasis]

Well boo-freakin-hoo. If “their overseas contacts are likely targets of the program” then the real question should be why are they dealing with suspected terrorists? The question, of course, is rhetorical.

Expect this to go to extra innings.
