I’ll be liveblogging tonight’s GOP Presidential Debate here and with the crew at Heading Right.

All the updates here will appear below. At Heading Right we use a conversational posting method.

The Debate airs on FOX at 9pm Eastern.

8:52 – Not only double liveblogging, but cooking a El Charrito Beef Enchilada dinner and getting three kids to Go.To.SLEEP.

STARTING: Durham New Hampshire, Brit Hume is the moderator

Let’s start by giving the 8 candidates a chance to take a poke at Fred Thompson.

Moving on to Immigration.
Rudy – Not a great answer.
McCain – He’s against amnesty? Who knew?
Huckabee – Ok, but calling supporters racists is not going to fly.
Tancredo – it’s his issue, but why so angry.
Hunter – good

At Heading Right, Ed Morrissey is filling up the cabinet with second tier candidates.

A break in the action so I can go grab my tv dinner.

Ron Paul is an idiot. Please get him off the stage.

I keep forgetting where I’ve posted last. Sorry.

Keep Gitmo open.

Good answer by Giuliani on the tax pledge.

One over riding thought is that this is the first debate (on either side) that has been a real debate.

Once again there was great liveblogging of the debate at Heading Right, and a lively follow up discussion at Debate Central. You can hear my thoughts as well as those of Frank P from Political Vindication and Mac from Macsmind with Captain Ed Morrissey moderating.

The archived podcast should be available very soon for those who didn’t listen live.

I’ll be talking about the debate tomorrow morning on First Cup Radio. If you’re going to be up that early (6am Eastern) please call in and give me your thoughts. The call in number is: (718) 664-9725

One question for all of you, who will be the first of the ten current candidates to drop out of the race? I have a new poll in the right sidebar.

I am still unable to post from home. A “line upgrade” is keeping me tv-less, internet-less, and even phone-less until later today (Wednesday) or Thursday (which, reading between the cable company lines, probably translates to Friday or Saturday).

I’ll try to post something during lunch. In the mean time, the crew at Heading Right did a great job of following last night’s debate. I’m anxious to hear the debate roundup. You can listen now at Debate Central, I’ll listen when I have access to a computer with speakers and a sound card. ;-)

Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) House Disregards Petraeus, Votes For Withdrawal

The same party leaders that scolded Bush during the election last year for listening to Donald Rumsfeld rather than his field commanders now won’t even bother to attend a briefing with Petraeus before setting out on this course. They set the vote up in order to coordinate campaign commercials while declaring defeat from Capitol Hill. They have made themselves into a disgrace in less than four months in power, reminding the nation why they locked them out of power for the previous six years.

The Strata-Sphere (A.J. Strata) The Esteemed Joe Lieberman

Never in the history of this country have people worked so hard from within this country to lose a war. Vietnam was their first success in losing, that is why the Dems are using all the same tactics now. They have the media puppets screaming “losers!”. They are pulling up emotional and disgruntled soldiers to do show trials on the Hill to make it look like the military is out of control and evil (reminiscent of Ghengis Khan). They do not bring up those with positive positions and heroic stories.

Both Captain Ed and Rick Moran disagree with Chris Muir’s depiction of Hillary Clinton in blackface in today’s Day by Day strip. Not everyone is seeing it the same way. You can join the discussion at Heading Right. Rick’s post is here and Ed’s is here.

Side Note: I enjoyed talking to Rick yesterday afternoon at the end of CQ radio’s daily broadcast. As he noted, I’ve been linking to his site for quite some time. I must admit that I haven’t been reading it as often as in the past (I really do depend on that recently updated thing too much) but that will be corrected.

BlogTalkRado/First Cup RadioThe latest edition of First Cup Radio is ready for your listening enjoyment. You can listen to the broadcast by clicking the play button on the radio bar at the top of the page, or following the link to the right.

Heading Right, the blog for BlogTalkRadio’s conservative bloggers, is off and running. I’ll be adding my first thoughts there later today. Here is Ed’s introduction:

Heading Right will serve as that community’s marketplace, bringing us together to discuss our shows, our guests, our points of view. It will create an opportunity for debate, support, and focus. We hope that our bloggers will bring fresh content and fresh perspective on the issues of the day.

In The Bullpen (Chad Evans) Outcry Over the Age of the Taliban Beheader, but Not the Act

According to the Guardian, there has been global outcry over the Taliban using a 12 year-old boy to behead an alleged spy. That’s great, it really is, but how about having a repeated global outcry over the Taliban continuing to behead and slaughter Pakistanis living in the Waziristan region to instill fear among the populace using the same trumped-up charges of spying?

Pirate’s Cove (William Teach) WTW: Jailed Border Patrol Families Have It Tough

Well, Compean and Ramos were sent to jail for supposedly breaking the law, and they have been separated from their familes. Looks like their familes are being hurt, doesn’t it? Daddy will be gone for the children’s formative years (unless President Bush gets off his ass and pardons them already.) Where is the compassion for these legal citizens of the United States, who were just trying to do their jobs and provide for their families?

Illegal immigrants are definately breaking our laws. Yet so many are worried about breaking up the families. Why not the Border Patrol Agents families?

First CupI never drink coffee at lunch. I find it keeps me awake for the afternoon. ~ Ronald Reagan

I have allowed other things to keep me from blogging here for much too long. Some, good, fun projects to be sure, but it’s time to get back to doing what I enjoy so much.

The Political Director of BlogTalkRadio, Ed Morrissey (Captain’s Quarters), has just announced the start of a new blog, Heading Right. It is intended to be the group blog for conservative BTR talk show hosts and I’m looking forward to taking part.

Related to that, a reminder that another edition of First Cup Radio will be on the air at 6:00am ET tomorrow. Join me “bRight & Early” to discuss the best posts from around the conservative blogosphere. And since it’s Wednesday, we can discuss Monday night’s episode of 24. There will be some other blogging and 24 related items to discuss, so be sure to tune in and call in. The call in number is (718) 664-9725.

There is some stirring in the TTLB Bears den. Although that is a good thing, the drop from 202 to 324 is not. ;-)

It also appears that Sitemeter’s updated blogs function is working again. That will make putting the First Cup post much easier. I’ll demonstrate that in the morning.
