In my feed reader I can see the headline Group decries textbooks on Islam as inflammatory followed by this opening paragraph:

A series of children’s textbooks on Islam contains misleading and inflammatory rhetoric about the religion, inaccurately portraying its followers as inherently violent and deserving of suspicion, according to a Muslim civil liberties group.

Anyone want to make a bet with yourself about who this “group” might be? The answer is below the fold.

We do find out in the second paragraph, even if we already knew.

The Pennsylvania chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations began what it calls a public awareness campaign Wednesday against the “World of Islam” books by Mason Crest Publishing.

Federal prosecutors have named the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as an unindicted co-conspirator in support of the terrorist group Hamas. CAIR joins Islamic Society of North America and The North American Islamic Trust as accused terror-supporting organizations in the case against The Holy Land Foundation’s officers, as well as 300 other individuals and entities:

As Ed says later in the post, this should not come as a surprise to anyone who has been following the actions of this group.

CAIR will hold an event in a tony venue tomorrow in the DC area, a panel discussion on the effect of global attitudes towards Islam on American policy. The venue? A conference room in the Capitol building, courtesy of New Jersey Democrat Bill Pascrell. The organization got access to the room despite the history of CAIR leadership in support of terrorism:

Here is the note that I sent to my representitives:

I am writing to voice my opposition to allowing CAIR to hold their “Global Attitudes on Islam-West Relations: U.S. Policy Implications” panel discussion in the Capitol basement conference room. (Reported in the Washington Times: http://washingtontimes.com/national/20070311-113356-1660r.htm) CAIR’s ties to terrorist organizations, along with their refusal to disavow terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, makes allowing the use of Capitol facilities quite outrageous.

I realize that this note will not reach you in time for any action to be taken on the event. However, I do want to state my strong opposition to this situation and my sincere hope that nothing like it can occur in the future.
