Maybe he has a case of porcine induced influenza, but let’s face it; Arlen Specter didn’t switch parties, he switched party labels. If there was ever a case of SwINO (Switch In Name Only) this is it.

Well, at least he did it for such principled reasons.

I am unwilling to have my 29-year Senate record judged by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate.

For me, this sums up his entire reasoning. He switched because he knew he was going to get beat like Desi Arnez’s conga in the primary.

Blogs for Bush (Mark Noonan) The Surge Strategy

Keep in mind that the strategy wasn’t to reduce the fighting; it wasn’t to reduce US casualties; it wasn’t to do anything other than get at the enemy – an entrenched, clever enemy who is willing to be killed for his cause.

Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) Promises, Promises

The Democrats made a lot of promises in the last electoral cycle, most of which they have yet to fulfill: serious earmark reform, action on a long list of legislative priorities, ending the power of lobbyists, and so on. Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) The Spectre of Specter Descends On Hayden — “Earlier today I wrote that the nomination of General Michael Hayden would present Democrats in the Senate a golden opportunity for mischief, and also noted that a few Republicans might be tempted as well. Tomorrow’s Washington Post confirms the latter, as Arlen Specter told an interviewer that he planned to hold up Hayden’s confirmation as leverage for a more complete briefing on the NSA surveillance program.”

Stop The ACLU (Jay) ACLU Oppose Efforts To Enforce Immigration Laws — “There are many different reasons that we need to secure our borders, and enforce immigration laws. The one that concerns me the most is National security. Besides that very big reason, another one that too many try to whitewash is the fact that illegal aliens are ILLEGAL.”

Seaspook’s Rants Terrorist Lies and Propaganda — “Propaganda in the Muslim world is an easy job. You don’t need to worry even about half-truths. Facts? Who needs them. Logic…pshaw, people living in the Dark Ages will gladly believe anything they want to hear.”

Iowa Voice (Brian) Democrats Campaign On Impreachment — “Make no mistake, the the goal for Democrats trying to take control of the House this election is the eventual impeachment of Bush. I’ve been saying it for months, and now Nancy Pelosi has confirmed that that is the agenda.”
