Whew! With the first of several interviews of Sarah Palin happening today, we’re getting to see her true lack of qualifications to be the VP candidate for GOP. Her utter lack of understanding of sensitive global issues like NATO membership and Russia are just the beginning of what we can expect in the weeks to come. John McCain’s complete and total lack of judgment in selecting Palin as his running mate will only grow as we approach election day. Give her a chance, she’ll continue to prove it herself. She is, according to Sen McCain, “the most knowledgeable person in the US on energy issues”. Check this out from 9/10/08

Politicians sometimes lie. There’s no doubt about that. But it’s also risky, because they sometimes get caught and the consequences can be severe. So hurling the accusation of deceit is a serious matter and should be thoroughly backed up by evidence. In the wake of Sarah Palin’s RNC speech, many have claimed that she lied, including Jennifer Martinez on this blog. But did they present evidence? No.

In fact, there is no evidence that Sarah Palin lied about putting that Alaskan luxury jet on ebay. On the contrary, everyone agrees that she told the truth. Her critics only claim that although the jet was put on ebay, it didn’t sell on ebay. They concede both that it was put on ebay, and that it was sold. So what’s the beef?

They also concede that it was used by the former mayor. In fact, he used it more than 25% of the time — on the taxpayers’ dime! As for the price of the jet, according to at least one source (see swamppolitics.com), the infamous Alaskan jet was eventually sold outside of ebay for 2.1 million dollars, allegedly $300k less than “a broker’s asking price.” So that’s 2.1 million for a 23-year-old plane with 10 seats.

Sure, one can quibble about the price, but the argument misses the point. The point is that the jet was wasteful and Sarah Palin sold it. She did the right thing, saving the taxpayers money and setting a good example for other government officials. That’s the kind of leadership we need in this country.

I am glad to see the republicans have managed to step up in the area of sex scandals. Usually it’s just those same old boring money scandals.

First David Vitter, then Larry Craig, now Sarah who either had an affair or had her daughter’s baby or tried to force her kid to have a shotgun wedding. Whatever.

Why do people take any politician’s word for anything?? Sarah Palin did not sell the plane on ebay. She LISTED it on ebay. It got no bids. She ended up selling it for a bargain (over half million less than it cost the taxpayers of Alaska) to a businessman.

Don’t take their word for anything. Look it up. It is election season when politicians LYING behavior goes into high gear.

I’m not ready to take a chance on someone a heartbeat away from the Presidency whose worldview has only been shaped by her Assembly of God church. Read up on what she did while mayor……tried to have the town’s librarian censor books (smacks of facism to me) she dropped that effort when folks began a recall effort. Too scary!

I’m thrilled with the choice of Sarah Palin. She is bright, articulate, and espouses good old fashioned American values. She has some good experience for one so young. Her experience has been varied enough to serve her well as vice president. McCain is 72, young enough to serve out two terms in good health. When I hear liberals talking about both McCain and Palin “not telling what their vision is”, I want to be sick. They are not listening!!!! I don’t hear O’Bama talking about how he plans to put his vision into place. I’m not even sure what his vision is. Remember John Kennedy—–what was his vision, other than getting elected president? His experience was rather limited as I recall.

I love Sarah Palin! I’m so excited about and by her. I would not vote for a person based on gender, but it’s terrific to have a wonderful candidate who happens to be a woman.

Sarah Palin gave a terrific speech at the RNC under tremendous pressure, and by doing so she has come a long way toward demonstrating that she has what it takes to lead this country. She’s strong. She’s smart. She’s someone who can come through in the clutch.

Her experience and background are just what this country needs: someone who is not a beltway insider, but a gutsy outsider, a reformer with a record of cutting government waste, such as the government jet that she sold on Ebay.

As for Palin’s stance on “the issues,” she favors low taxes, small government, increased personal responsibility, and a strong national defense in a time of unprecedented danger. Those are the important issues. She gets them right.

True, she hasn’t put forward detailed policy proposals. But character is more important. Specific policy proposals are often silly. Who really expects Obama to deliver on his promises to create specifically “five million jobs” and to end energy independence in “ten years”?

Sarah Palin represents strength and reform. That’s what this country needs.
