As far as I’m concerned, this is a big plus for McCain. Until this, I was really not wanting to vote at all, but knew I would. Holding my nose. But with Palin on the ticket, I am EXCITED about this, and am now looking to vote Republican in November. On a conservative forum I visit, there are many others who feel the same. Some weren’t planning on voting at all, who state that now they will.

I think this is a big plus as well. I too am hearing the same kind of buzz.

I wonder if what I’m hearing will translate to what the polls are saying in a few days.

I’m just pleased as punch to know that we’d have a vice-president who’d want the government to force a teenage girl raped and impregnated by her father to have the baby.

I was always going to vote for John McCain but Sarah Palin’s addition to the ticket has supercharged and put some sparks into the election. Smart and clever move by Mr McCain. Hope there is not much more talk about her daughter’s pregnancy – please, if the country can handle ex-pres Clinton’s affairs, while in office, John Edwards affair, Ted Kennedy’s Chappaquiddick affair and loss of a young woman’s life, of what significance/importance is a common run of the mill issue of a teenager’s pregnancy to the big picture of politics?!

This election is about the economy. He should have picked Romney. Palin just gave the White House to the Dems.

Let’s see…an ex-beauty pagent winner…with a undergraduate degree in jounalism…who does not believe in global warming…who does believe a woman should have no control over her own body and for 9 months should be viewed as nothing more than a baby container…who’s main attributes seem to be stubborness and vicious competiveness… who has had next to no experience in goverment… who belonged to a 3rd party in 1994 that wanted to secede from the United States…who has a currently very messy family situation given that she had recently given birth to a downs syndrome baby, has a 17 year old daughter who is unwed and pregnant and is facing investigation for using her political office to smear her ex-brother-in-law and get him fired (he is in a custody battle with her sister)…who seems to be in bed with big oil…who is running for VP…whose running mate is 72 and is a cancer survivor…who has no foreign policy background and in fact has only been out of the country twice…who may become President of the country I love at a time when it faces the most complex foreign policy issues, economic issues and domestic issues it has in decades…Why does this sound like a totally unbelievably bad novel???? I for one am terrified and can not understand what Mr. McCain was thinking!!!!

I have to believe that he alienated way more voters than he recruited. He went with the “Buzz Candidate” to take a page from Obama’s book, but he failed to realize that we know Hillary Clinton, and some of us voted for Hillary Clinton, and Sara Palin _is_no_Hillary_Clinton_.

Somebody give America a ticket beacuse Gallup and RCP say they are going LEFT ON RED.

She is a hypocrite and I am embarrassed as a woman to have her representing us. If she can’t even get the respect from her daughter, why should we take her seriously. I know McCain is stupid, but for god’s sake what the hell was he thinking! According to the show The View, she qualified because she a mother of five. If that’s the qualification for being the vice president of the United States of America, God help us all!

I know Mc Cain is old, but I guess senility must have hit as well. What was he smoking or what pain killers was he taking when he selected Palin. I’m scared to death of her possibly becoming president. Talk about inexperience. Alaska might be a large state, but not where it counts, managing people and the economy, stupid. I live live part time in Europe, I just may move to Europe full-time.

Hank – Good job going for the most extreme, outrageous example.

Barbara – She is really creating some excitement. Contributions and volunteerism.

Rebecca – Let’s see…a former community organizer (whatever that is)…who buys into the AGW hoax…who supports her daughter instead of thinking a baby is a punishment…who’s main attribute seems to be reading others words from a teleprompter…who has no experience and has spent most of his only senate term running for president. Should I go on?

Ryan – Sara Palin _is_no_Hillary_Clinton_. You say that like it’s a bad thing.

Tina – “According to “The View”?” That’s your go to source?? Try again.

    Rod – Alaska’s $10B budget doesn’t count? Enjoy Europe.

    Palin:
She has next to no experience in government. When ask about national security back ground or knowledge regarding foreign affairs the best Ms. McCain could come up with was “she lives right by Russia.” She has only traveled outside the country twice in her life. She belonged (as did her husband “Mr. first Dude”) to a 3rd party which among other things supports allowing Alaska to secede from the United States and feels the only thing wrong with the John Birch Society was it was to liberal! She tried to have a local Librarian fired for not banning books. Used her political office to try to have fired and smear a state trooper who is in a custody battle with her sister. Is being investigated for this and is worried enough about the outcome to have recently “lawyered up.” Currently has pretty messy family issues, recently gave birth to a son with Downs Syndrome and has a 17 year old daughter who is pregnant. Ironically she has fought sex education in the schools and availability of contraception for minors. Believes that for 9 months a woman has no right to control what is happening to her own body and is basically nothing more than a baby container. She does not believe in a women’s right to choose to end a pregnancy, even if she has been raped. Does not believe human pollution has anything to do with global warming (even Bush has had to back down on this one). Is so in bed with big oil she is willing to watch as the polar bear and beluga whales become extinct, rather than slow the possibility of drilling. She would open up one of the last great wilderness on earth to exploitation by oil interests. Laughs when hearing a fellow Republican woman being called a bitch in public (she and the woman had disagreed on several issues) I guess this does make her on par with McCain who thinks it is alright to call your wife a cunt in public. Has an undergraduate degree in Journalism for a small obscure university. She has been repeatedly described as stubborn with a vicious streak – even by family and friends. (nick name Sarah Barracuda) Did fund raising and accepted money from the same sources as Sen. Ted Stevens. Pushed for the “bridge to no where – the flipped when convenient to do so. She has been named Sen. John McCain’s VP selection for the Republican ticket. Sen. McCain is 72 years old and has reoccurring cancer as part of his health history. One can not help but question Mr. McCain’s judgment regarding her selection.

Move years of government service than Obama.

    Recurring skin cancer? Please.

Giving birth to a Down’s Syndrome child is a messy family issue? Rhetorical overkill is thy name.

No evidence she was ever registered as a member of a third party. But hey why should truth matter.

Granted Obama knows more about running for office than she does since that is all he has done with his life. Of course, I will take someone who has actually run a government over someone who just knows how to run his mouth any day.

  14. Stephen says:

Sarah Palin gave a terrific speech at the RNC under tremendous pressure, and by doing so she has come a long way toward demonstrating that she has what it takes to lead this country. She’s strong. She’s smart. She’s someone who can come through in the clutch.

Her experience and background are just what this country needs: someone who is not a beltway insider, but a gutsy outsider, a reformer with a record of cutting government waste, such as the government jet that she sold on Ebay.

As for Palin’s stance on “the issues,” she favors low taxes, small government, increased personal responsibility, and a strong national defense in a time of unprecedented danger. Those are the important issues. She gets them right.

True, she hasn’t put forward detailed policy proposals. But character is more important. Specific policy proposals are often silly. Who really expects Obama to deliver on his promises to create specifically “five million jobs” and to end energy independence in “ten years”?

Sarah Palin represents strength and reform. That’s what this country needs.

I love Sarah Palin! I’m so excited about and by her. I would not vote for a person based on gender, but it’s terrific to have a wonderful candidate who happens to be a woman.

I’m thrilled with the choice of Sarah Palin. She is bright, articulate, and espouses good old fashioned American values. She has some good experience for one so young. Her experience has been varied enough to serve her well as vice president. McCain is 72, young enough to serve out two terms in good health. When I hear liberals talking about both McCain and Palin “not telling what their vision is”, I want to be sick. They are not listening!!!! I don’t hear O’Bama talking about how he plans to put his vision into place. I’m not even sure what his vision is. Remember John Kennedy—–what was his vision, other than getting elected president? His experience was rather limited as I recall.

I’m not ready to take a chance on someone a heartbeat away from the Presidency whose worldview has only been shaped by her Assembly of God church. Read up on what she did while mayor……tried to have the town’s librarian censor books (smacks of facism to me) she dropped that effort when folks began a recall effort. Too scary!

Why do people take any politician’s word for anything?? Sarah Palin did not sell the plane on ebay. She LISTED it on ebay. It got no bids. She ended up selling it for a bargain (over half million less than it cost the taxpayers of Alaska) to a businessman.

Don’t take their word for anything. Look it up. It is election season when politicians LYING behavior goes into high gear.

I am glad to see the republicans have managed to step up in the area of sex scandals. Usually it’s just those same old boring money scandals.

First David Vitter, then Larry Craig, now Sarah who either had an affair or had her daughter’s baby or tried to force her kid to have a shotgun wedding. Whatever.

  22. Stephen says:

Politicians sometimes lie. There’s no doubt about that. But it’s also risky, because they sometimes get caught and the consequences can be severe. So hurling the accusation of deceit is a serious matter and should be thoroughly backed up by evidence. In the wake of Sarah Palin’s RNC speech, many have claimed that she lied, including Jennifer Martinez on this blog. But did they present evidence? No.

In fact, there is no evidence that Sarah Palin lied about putting that Alaskan luxury jet on ebay. On the contrary, everyone agrees that she told the truth. Her critics only claim that although the jet was put on ebay, it didn’t sell on ebay. They concede both that it was put on ebay, and that it was sold. So what’s the beef?

They also concede that it was used by the former mayor. In fact, he used it more than 25% of the time — on the taxpayers’ dime! As for the price of the jet, according to at least one source (see swamppolitics.com), the infamous Alaskan jet was eventually sold outside of ebay for 2.1 million dollars, allegedly $300k less than “a broker’s asking price.” So that’s 2.1 million for a 23-year-old plane with 10 seats.

Sure, one can quibble about the price, but the argument misses the point. The point is that the jet was wasteful and Sarah Palin sold it. She did the right thing, saving the taxpayers money and setting a good example for other government officials. That’s the kind of leadership we need in this country.

Whew! With the first of several interviews of Sarah Palin happening today, we’re getting to see her true lack of qualifications to be the VP candidate for GOP. Her utter lack of understanding of sensitive global issues like NATO membership and Russia are just the beginning of what we can expect in the weeks to come. John McCain’s complete and total lack of judgment in selecting Palin as his running mate will only grow as we approach election day. Give her a chance, she’ll continue to prove it herself. She is, according to Sen McCain, “the most knowledgeable person in the US on energy issues”. Check this out from 9/10/08
