Fay on it’s way?

School starts again today, a perfect time to be preparing for a tropical storm/hurricane. Fay still has the computer models confused. Here is the latest on Fay.
AT 500 AM EDT…0900 UTC…THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM FAY WAS
LOCATED INLAND OVER CENTRAL CUBA NEAR LATITUDE 22.5
NORTH…LONGITUDE 80.9 WEST OR ABOUT 105 MILES…170
KM…EAST-SOUTHEAST OF HAVANA CUBA AND ABOUT 155 MILES …250
KM…SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF KEY WEST FLORIDA.FAY IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR 12 MPH…19 KM/HR.
THIS MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS WITH A
TURN TO THE NORTH EXPECTED ON TUESDAY. THE CENTER OF FAY SHOULD BE
EMERGING INTO THE FLORIDA STRAITS LATER THIS MORNING…AND BE VERY
NEAR THE FLORIDA KEYS TONIGHT.MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 50 MPH…85 KM/HR…WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. SOME STRENGTHENING IS EXPECTED AFTER THE CENTER OF FAY
EMERGES OVER WATER. FAY IS FORECAST TO BE APPROACHING HURRICANE
STRENGTH IN THE FLORIDA KEYS AND TO BECOME A HURRICANE BEFORE IT
REACHES THE FLORIDA PENINSULA.
People are busy evacuating the Keys, a slow process every time. Here in the center of the state we have another day or so to complete our preparations. Whatever path Fay decides on a wet week is very likely here. After work I’ll have to continue to batten down the yard. I sure don’t want yard tools turned into javelins heading for a window.
I’ll keep watching. If you’re in Southern Florida you should already be completing your preparations.

At least it shouldn’t be as powerful as Charley. Then again, the waters are pretty much roasting.
The good news is it’s taking a shorter path over water. Stay safe!
It looks like Fay should pass just east of Key West this afternoon (I’m looking at 2-2:30), then make landfall somewhere between Naples and Cape Coral tomorrow morning.
