I cannot tell you how sad I am to read of his passing. I read his works when I was a military spouse living in West Germany in the early 1970's. I remember being awed by the courage it took to write, and get published his great works. All of them. I remember being terrified for him when I heard that he had been taken from his residence, before the Soviets exiled him to the west. Next to the Bible, his writings have influenced me the most. What a loss to the voice of freedom in this world that seems to be clamoring for the very oppression he spent his life writing against.
Anybody considering voting for any liberal/left winger, would benefit greatly from reading any one of this giant's works.
Rest in Peace, Alexander Solzhenitsyn.
