Help Needed In Iowa

Brian, of Liberty Pundit (formerly Iowa Voice) is one of the truly good people that I’ve had pleasure of getting to know through the internet and this blogging thing. He is a good, conservative writer who is generous with links and support of other bloggers.

I know first hand that he is also a very generous person.

On Friday Brian posted that while his home was on higher ground in his part of Iowa some friends were not as fortunate.

I received a couple of concerned emails from readers and some fellow bloggers asking about our situation. I appreciate the concern, but my family and I are in no danger and we’ll be just fine. It would have to be one hell of a flood to reach us (think Noah and the Ark, it’d have to be one like that).

Still, the friends I mentioned are at risk and we’re concentrating on helping them right now. My garage is packed full of their stuff (on top of all the crap we have and can’t seem to part with!) and we’ve set aside some extra room for them to stay a few days if they need to crash for a while. It will be a little crowded, but that’s what friends are for.

On Saturday he had this update:

I know I said the other day that my family and I are in no danger with the flood, but I forgot one thing: my place of employment.

At around 8 am this morning, a dam holding back a somewhat large creek near where I work let go and now the place is surrounded by several feet of water. Within a few hours, it will be totally swamped and, temporarily, out of business. Which means, basically, that I’m out of a job until the water goes back down and they clean/fix the place back up.

[...]

For now, I won’t be blogging much until things settle down around here. I’ve got a house full of friends, their spouses, and their kids, and until the waters recede and they’re allowed back into their homes, we’re going to have our hands full.

If you can help, please do what you can through the tip jar button on Liberty Pundit (top of the left sidebar). Bloggers, would you please help spread the word? Thanks.

I’ll be leaving this post in the “Featured” position for the next day or so.
