An Idea

I’ve had an idea. June is nearly over, so it’s about time.

The recent discussion of AP’s attitude toward the blogosphere got me thinking. Bloggers, it is often said, do very little original reporting. Why not? It seems to me that bloggers could be a great natural news source.

With that in mind I’ve thought about creating a Blog News Co-op. I’ve secured a domain name, just in case anyone else has the same idea, blognewscoop.com that only has a cheesy default site up right now (I shouldn’t get ideas at 6am when I have to leave for work by 8:20). My thinking goes along these lines: A central, open-source repository where bloggers can submit original stories for use by the rest of the blogosphere.

There are many things that need to take place to put this into motion. Right now I’m just soliciting your thoughts. Any thoughts. Please?

Seriously, leave your comments, spread the word, volunteer, suggest, criticize, HELP!

  1. Sounds like a great idea. I really do not have that many of my own original stories, but it is a good idea. I can put a post up at my blog if you want to get some more feedback.
