2nd Amendment Means What It Says
By Jim Lynch on Jun 26, 2008 in SCOTUS
Just heard on Glenn Beck’s radio program that the Heller opinion has been released, in favor of the second amendment. I’ll be updating this as soon as I find something online, and then more at lunch.
FOX News has a very brief blurb:
The Supreme Court says Americans have a right to own guns for self-defense and hunting, the justices’ first definitive pronouncement on gun rights in U.S. history.
One quick update. Does anyone else see the difference in these two headlines?
AP - Supreme Court says Americans have right to guns
Reuters - Supreme Court finds individual right to own guns
I’m not a Constitutional Professor, but to me the Reuters headline seems to be a lot more in line with the way things are supposed to work. It is not up to the SC to say what our rights are, but rather to interpret the rights given to us by our laws.
