I am working on modifications to a new theme for the site. You can take a look at what it currently looks like at the test blog. Please let me know what you think, and any suggestions you might have.

OK, I’ll be the first to say that yeah, you really could use a theme update! But, other than the top banner, the proposed new theme doesn’t impress me any more than this one; the new banner is a winner!

One definite suggestion: you have so much in your sidebar — and the proposed theme has two sidebars — that I think you’d be much better off with a full-screen presentation rather than the narrower one you use on both the old and proposed themes. I think you need two sidebars, due to having so much, but you might be better served to have one on each side.

One thing you might like: I have a theme switcher function on my site, which enables readers to toggle back and forth between five different themes. My default is the Andreas 0.8, but I like the three-column Andy Blue as well. (I don’t use as many graphics as you do, so I’m not sure that they’d work as well for you.)

By the way, Brian had some pretty good themes on which he was working, but he had a couple of advertising glitches with them, and went back to his old one. I think you might like a couple of his alternates.
