Operation Chaos. It’s the name that Rush Limbaugh has given to the actions designed to prolong the Democrat’s battle for the presidential nomination.
At the core of this plan is this thought — When your opponents are eating one another you don’t stop it. You pass the ketchup and let them eat.
Well, several highly placed individuals appear to be lending their support.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota is the most recent example.
As she endorsed Illinois Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential bid Monday morning, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar rebuked fellow Democrats who are pressuring New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to cede the party’s nomination.
“I believe that Sen. Clinton should remain in this race,” Klobuchar told reporters in a conference call announcing her decision to back Obama. “I don’t agree with some of my colleagues’ comments this week.”
Welcome to Operation Chaos Senator.
It should come as no surprise that the man who has such “fond memories” of the White House is anxious to keep the flame burning.
Bill Clinton dismissed suggestions by supporters of Barack Obama that Hillary Rodham Clinton was damaging the party by staying in the race even though she is behind in delegates and unlikely to overtake the Illinois senator based on the contests to come.
“There is somehow the suggestion that because we are having a vigorous debate about who would be the best president, we are going to weaken this party in the fall,” he said Sunday at the state Democratic Party convention. “Chill out”.
OK, we have to ignore the part where he says that, “we are having a vigorous debate about who would be the best president”. I’m not even sure he believes that.
Even Sen. Obama wants to participate in OC, although his endorsement is a bit shallow.
“My attitude is Senator Clinton can run as long as she wants,” Obama said.
Enjoy the chaos.
