Tropical storm Noel is heading away from Florida.

LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 23.7 NORTH…LONGITUDE 78.5 WEST OR ABOUT 115

SOUTHEAST OF MIAMI FLORIDA.

NOEL IS MOVING ERRATICALLY TOWARD THE NORTH NEAR 6 MPH…9 KM/HR. A
SLOW NORTHWARD MOTION IS EXPECTED TODAY…WITH A TURN TOWARD THE
NORTHEAST EXPECTED TONIGHT. THIS MOTION SHOULD BRING THE CENTER OF
NOEL THROUGH THE NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS TODAY AND TONIGHT.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 60 MPH…95 KM/HR…WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. SOME STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

While the storm should have little impact on the state, it’s effects have been deadly in the Caribbean.

The deadly storm dumped rains on the Dominican Republic and Haiti Wednesday night, more than two days after it struck the island of Hispaniola, where rescuers were struggling to reach communities cut off by flooding.

As they did, they found a rising toll of death and damage — at least 56 dead in the Dominican Republic, 24 in neighboring Haiti and one in Jamaica.

More later in the day.
