I am amazed that Hillary Clinton is making this claim.
The economy needs help and fast, Hillary Rodham Clinton declared Monday, claiming the experience for the job and saying the nation can’t afford to break in a newcomer.
In speech excerpts provided by the Clinton campaign, the New York senator suggested Democratic rival Barack Obama and other candidates lack the experience necessary to address the nation’s fiscal challenges.“There is one job we can’t afford on-the-job training for—our next president. That could be the costliest job training in history,” Clinton said. “Every day spent learning the ropes is another day of rising costs, mounting deficits and growing anxiety for our families. And they cannot afford to keep waiting.” [my emphasis]
What experience does she have? None. None. None.
Mitt Romney upset Clinton’s supporters when he said that, “The government of the United States is not a place for a president to be an intern. You need to have experience actually leading and running things.”
I can not figure out what she could possibly hope to accomplish by taking this tack.
On the other hand, let’s not overlook such a gift.
UPDATE: Dana at Common Sense Political Thought linked and added:
And other than the health care fiasco, Mrs Clinton has had no real executive experience. She has worked as an attorney, and successfully pushed some legislation, both as First Lady (of both Arkansas and the United States) and as senator, but that is legislative, not executive experince.
She’s had more legislative experience than Barack Hussein Obama, against whom she has tried to use the experience card, but she can’t match up with other Democratic candidates like Joe Biden and Chris Dodd in that department — and Bill Richardson, in both the Clinton cabinet and as Governor of New Mexico, just plain thumps her on executive experience.
I can’t see how the experience card is a winning one for her — unless she really believes that Democratic primary voters are naïve.
I think that last point is probably the correct one.

Perhaps we are supposed to assume that she ran things as First Lady.
Of course, the one executive assignment she was given as First Lady turned out to be a rather spectacular failure; I’m not sure how this makes her particularly qualified.
Heck, as an executive, she couldn’t even find billing records hidden in her own nightstand!

She used to claim her work on universal (socialized) health care under (no pun intended) her husband Bill, and whatever else she did in the White House as her qualifications for her experience.
That is until people started asking to see what records exist in the Clinton Library (and massage parlor) that would substantiate her claims. That’s when Bill came forward to negate all of what she said was her experience and qualifications and said that all that went wrong with that venture was his fault, not hers. Minimizing her role, and therefor minimizing her experience.
So we’re back to square one. What experience?
