A Lesson in Michigan?

Earlier this morning I read this post by Ed Morrissey examining the Michigan budget agreement. I also read Sister Toldjah’s take later on.

At first I wasn’t going to comment on this story, thinking that Michigan’s budget woes have very little to do with my life. But, a comment by Rush Limbaugh (prior to what has turned out to be a very good, rare interview with Associate Justice Clarence Thomas) caused me to look at this in a very different light.

Understand that this is not even a paraphrase of Rush’s words, but rather what I “heard”. In a nutshell, while the “solution” Michigan has implimented for it’s budget shortfalls will be inevitably difficult on the state’s citizens and businesses, it will serve as an object lesson in how not to do things as we go into the next election. In addition, you can pretty well count on a Democratic administration and Congress to follow the very same path.

Michigan is in for a very tough time. If we allow the United States to follow the same path, then all of us will be in for a tough time as well.

Help me fix the car and get back on the road!
