Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) Immigration Bill Resurrected

Why should anyone trust this bill to address those issues when neither Congress nor the executive branch has complied with the earlier legislation? Both of these became law, with the President’s signature, and yet neither has had much progress at all. Given that track record, the people have the right to demand that the government complete the tasks already assigned to it before creating vast new bureaucracies to solve other related problems.

Scrapple Face (Scott Ott) New Bush Bill Makes Illegals Build Border Fence

President George Bush, in an effort to address conservatives’ dual concerns about border security and the rule of law, today said the revived immigration reform bill would finish the U.S.-Mexico border fence by fining illegal aliens to pay for it and requiring each one to build a section of the fence with his own hands.
