First Cup The coffee is prepared in such a way that it makes those who drink it witty: at least there is not a single soul who, on quitting the house, does not believe himself four times wittier that when he entered it. ~ Charles de Secondat Montesquieu

The Truth Laid Bear (N.Z. Bear) Immigration Bill: Online and Awaiting Your Comments
N.Z has provided an online version of the bill that can be found here. Here is what he has to say about this project.

My hope, however, is that by presenting the bill in this form, I will help make the bill more accessible to all, and provide a central spot where commentary, criticism, and suggested improvements can be assembled. Who knows — maybe our erstwhile leaders on Capitol Hill will take notice, and take some of our comments to heart.

Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) Everybody Hates The Compromise

Proverbially, a compromise succeeds best when it leaves all sides unsatisfied. However, the compromise which everyone hates usually fails, and that appears to be the case with the new immigration reform package — and that spells trouble for any hopes of reaching a compromise at all. While immigration hardliners have found enough devils in the details to populate an entire plane of Dante’s Inferno, immigration advocates apparently dislike the bill at least as much:

Iowa Voice (Brian) Immigration Bill: Links, Thoughts, And A Prediction

You’re putting the cart before the horse on this one, Senators. If you pass this bill, it guarantees that we’ll be down this road again in the not-to-distant future. Illegals thinking about crossing will say “Sweet…we need to get to America so we can get in on the next one” and next thing you know, we’ll be right back in the same boat: swamped with illegal immigrants with nothing to do but grant them amnesty…again.

Pirate’s Cove (William Teach) Beer Monday: Less Then 20 Senators Support The Amnesty Bill

If it is so great, why was it crafted in secret? Why are so many People not only against it, but incensed by it? It may be “better then what we have now,” but amnesty is amnesty. Why not craft a bill that starts by enforcing the laws? One which discourages illegals from coming to our country? Why not start by showing that the US government is willing to enforce current laws, including border security, first? Why should we believe anything from the Senate, left or right, when they haven’t done anything to uphold said laws?

Americans do not want to reward Criminal Behavior.

Illegal immigration is a felony.

My God, how deaf, dumb and blind do you have to be not to detect that simple fact? We are a nation of laws. How I wish our lawmakers would keep that in mind.
