First CupI believe humans get a lot done, not because we’re smart, but because we have thumbs so we can make coffee. ~ Flash Rosenberg

This morning’s edition of First Cup Radio went a little better I think. I realized the kids who won’t wake up when I am standing in their rooms trying to get them awake are not going to be disturbed by my voice, talking normally, several rooms away.

As I did on the broadcast, I’d like to throw an appeal out there. No, not for money (although I can’t see myself turning that down) but for new coffee quotes. I would really like to add to the rotation of 25-30 I’m using now. I’ve searched google and most of the quotation sites out there to get the ones I am using now. But, if you know of any others please send them, or a link to them, to lakelandjim at gmail dot com.

Iowa Voice (Brian) Democrats Hopping Mad About Recess Appointment

Look, this boils down to one thing, and one thing only: the fact that Fox donated $50,000 to the Swift Boaters. To Democrats, that’s an unpardonable offense. They claim that it was a smear campaign based on lies and has been totally discredited but, as Captain Ed and Power Line point out, that belief exists only in liberal fantasies and their media. Nobody, to date, has come forward with solid evidence showing that Kerry was “smeared” by anything but the truth (of course to a liberal, when someone tells the truth about them, that in and of itself constitutes a smear).

Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) The Politics Of The Petty

Barring Fox from taking the position was petty and vindictive, just the kind of games Democrats have played with presidential appointments for the past six years. They tried it on John Bolton, and got the same answer from the White House then. Now they want to screech with outrage, but the Senate Democratic Caucus has created this situation by ignoring the concept of presidential privilege for the entire time Bush has served in office.

Right Wing News (John Hawkins) Bush Makes The Libs Holler With His Recess Appointments

The message they were trying to send with Fox, beyond putting some salve on John Kerry’s ego, was that if you donate money to Republicans, we will try to retaliate against you if we can get away with it. The idea that a guy like Fox would be prevented from getting an ambassadorship because he gave money to a group a group that exposed John Kerry’s lies about his war record was absolutely outrageous and Bush was right not to let it stand.
