Following Rabbit Trails

Friends from college tell the story of a trip they took through the Arizona desert. I understand that there are some pretty large jack rabbits in that part of the country.

They had been riding for hours, it was night, they were tired, and, well, they were college guys.

As they were getting sleepier the occasional rabbit would dart across the road. They decided (remember, I said these were some college guys) that to help keep awake they would chase the rabbits. One would shoot across the highway and they would start chasing it into the desert. Soon they would lose site of the rabbit and veer back on to the road. Until the next one crossed their path.

I remember hearing a speaker talk about chasing rabbit trails and it’s always made me think of that story. He was talking about the idea of one thing leading to another, leading to another, until you’re quite a distance from your original or intended destination.

That’s been my night. I started out trying to tweak a program which led me to download and install something else, tweak that, then moving on to updating Firefox, and ended up cleaning out some files and doing some other computer housekeeping.

None of which are the blogging I had planned on doing this evening.

Well, other than this.
