I Will Not Comply John Hood has written a very compelling article at the Carolina Journal that sums up the health control legislation's end game. In discussing the legislative maneuvering, he makes this, I believe, accurate...

Find The Pea The phrase that keeps popping into my head whenever I read anything about the health system takeover bill is, "how stupid do they think we are?" The rhetorical answer, sadly, is, "pretty stupid." After...

First CupThe drink that comforteth the brain and heart and helpeth digestion. ~ Sir Francis Bacon

Happy 1st Blogiversary to
Alabama Improper

Right Truth (Debbie) Self-sufficient terrorists not news — “This isn’t news. Anybody with half a brain could figure with the ammunition, weapons, etc. the enemy has, they get money from somewhere. They sure aren’t working at Starbucks of Baghdad for take-home pay. Where did folks THINK they were getting their money?”

Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) Guess Who Financed The Insurgencies? — “The New York Times reports on the financial underpinnings of the insurgencies in Iraq, showing that they have developed well-oiled mechanisms for generating millions in funding for their operations. A significant portion of those funds come from their abduction industry, and the major donors to that program have been France and Italy:”

Stop The ACLU (Jay) Rangel: Men Join The Army Only If They Can’t Have A “Decent Career” — “This quote is Rangel’s explanation of why he supports the draft. One would think after the Kerry episode these idiots would be more careful in how the word things. I don’t know how anyone could interpret Rangel’s statement as anything other than a direct insult to those serving in our military. Apparently, Rangel does not believe being in the army is a decent career. Many people in the military do make the choice to join because of a conviction to a patriotic duty. Those are the kind of people I want in our military. If we were to follow Rangel’s advice of a draft our military would be full of people that do not want to be there.”

Wizbang (Kim Priestap) Charlie Rangel Is Still Blabbing About the Draft — “Charlie Rangel won’t stop talking about the draft. It gets his mug on TV and allows him to hear himself talk. I also think he’s going on the theory that if people hear his drum beat about the draft enough times then maybe they’ll start to believe it. He was on Fox News today pushing his draft idea when he, unsurprisingly, managed to insult our troops in the process.”

Ankle Biting Pundits (Bull Dog Pundit) On Pork: Meet The New Bosses, Same As The Old Bosses — “Why is it that about the only thing Republicans and Democrats can agree on is stealing our tax dollars to use for their own pet pork projects? Think the change in leadership is going to mean any real changes on these monumental wastes of our money? Then I’ve got a bridge to sell you – a bridge that goes to nowhere and the price is only about $250 million.”

Iraq, ’nuff said…

Back from the holiday weekend everyone’s focus is back on Iraq. Is it civil war? Should we retreat? Is there a plan for success? The mortar shells and car bombs in the Shia neighbourhood of Sadr City in Baghdad that…
