A New Day Today is going to be an adventure. If you are a regular reader you know that I don't talk a lot about my day job. While I do mention work occasionally, I seldom, if ever, mention the company I work...

First CupCoffee, according to the women of Denmark, is to the body what the Word of the Lord is to the soul. ~ Isak Dinesen

Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) Kinsley: Democratic Platform Embarrassing — “Michael Kinsley, no friend to the GOP, decided to take a look at the suddenly-scarce Nancy Pelosi’s plan for governance if and when the Democrats take control of Congress. Kinsley expected a platform of reasonable competence, one he could promote — apparently in the final hours of the midterm cycle. Instead, he found it to be a rehash of the worst Democratic stereotypes, full of euphemisms for surrender and a slew of spending initiatives to break the federal budget:”

Flopping Aces (Curt) Election Eve — “This is it folks. The moment of truth has arrived. Will the majority of Americans choose higher taxes? A cut and run policy? A party with no values? A party that will stifle this growing economy? A party that doesn’t really believe we are at war with terrorism? A party that voted against the Patriot Act that has protected us for years.

Or will they choose a party that will make sure the job is finished in Iraq and that our soldiers will not have died in vain. A party that has created a strong growing economy with millions of jobs created. A party that will make sure that marriage between a man and women is kept sacred. A party that will ensure we remain a strong and safe country….

Let’s hope the people choose wisely.”

Blue Crab Boulevard Going South — “This is a very, very interesting piece from the New York Times. It stinks out loud of some serious butt-covering for the Paper of Record(ed Democratic cheerleading). It seems like, all of a sudden that tsunami of The Greatest Electoral Defeat In Recorded History Ever™ may not happen at all. And the Times is doing serious CYA.”

TMH’s Bacon Bits (The Mary Hunter) Vote Democrat or Don’t Vote Republican – It’s All the Same — Read his list detailing the consequences of putting the left in power, either with your vote or by staying home.

ScrappleFace (Scott Ott) If Votes Fall Short, Dems to Redeploy from Congress — “As Americans went to the polls this morning, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, announced that if Democrats don’t achieve a “clear, immediate, overwhelming victory” in the House and the Senate, she will lead them in a “responsible redeployment” from Congress.”

Good links. As to your opening quote on coffee, may I submit for your approval, “O Blessed Holy Caffeine Tree”?

:-)

As to Flopping Aces’ hope that the people would choose wisely, I would add that I hope those who unqualified to vote by reason of their (sometimes deliberate) lack of knowledge of the issues and candidates would simply stay home.

Hope against hope?
