I Will Not Comply John Hood has written a very compelling article at the Carolina Journal that sums up the health control legislation's end game. In discussing the legislative maneuvering, he makes this, I believe, accurate...

Find The Pea The phrase that keeps popping into my head whenever I read anything about the health system takeover bill is, "how stupid do they think we are?" The rhetorical answer, sadly, is, "pretty stupid." After...

First CupI believe humans get a lot done, not because we’re smart, but because we have thumbs so we can make coffee. ~ Flash Rosenberg

Right Wing News (John Hawkins) In Defense Of Bush’s Tax Cuts — “This conforms quite well with the many incorrect preconceptions that Democrats have about tax cuts, but it’s completely unrelated to what has actually transpired. For example, consider the claim that the tax cuts haven’t stimulated the economy. The tax cuts were approved in 2003 and the economy has been thriving ever since. ”

Captain’s Quarters (Ed Morrissey) Illegal Immigrants Get Their Answer — “The May Day protests by activists for illegal immigrants have resulted in an utterly predictable backlash, according to the Washington Post. Voters have sent bricks to their Congressional representatives as donations for a border barrier, and even those who considered themselves liberals want the government to start rounding up illegals and send them packing:”

In The Bullpen (Chad Evans) Illegal Alien Protest Backlash — “I predict there will be more fallout and this fallout will also hit the national stage. The so-called immigration protests, which in essense were nothing more than protests arguing for a giant amnesty program disguised as something entirely different, have been called everything but what they are.”

Wizbang (Jay Tea) A fair trade — “One of the more popular arguments against a crackdown on illegal aliens has been the “do you know how hard it would be to deport 12 million people?” My standard reply has been “then we better start soon.”"

Outside The Beltway (James Joyner) Backlash Against Illegal Alien Protests — “Still, I would not be at all surprised if the anecdotal evidence accurately reflected aggregate trends. This issue, along with gas prices, is a gut level issue that seems very uncomplicated and is backed by visceral passion. Anger trumps logic or ideology with voters.”
