Years ago I worked in radio as an announcer. One thing I learned during that time was how easy it was for people to tune in somewhere else. Surveys showed that if someone tuned to another station, for whatever reason, it could take from two weeks to six months for them to come back.
I’ve noticed something very similar here. My traffic numbers where growing at a nice rate. Not as quickly as I’d like, but not bad.
Then I had some server problems at my hosting company. Traffic tumbled. Now it’s happened three times this month. February was on it’s way to being one of my biggest months, now it’s going to come in somewhere near the average of the last few months.
The latest event was early this morning, and possibly overnight (although it may just be that no one stopped by between 1:00 and 5:00). It’s going to make this a rather poor week.
Not really a rant. Just a bit of frustration. The good news is I am a big-time optimist. I’ll push through. Have a great day!
UPDATE: Happened again! This time, not only did I lose connection to the database, but to the whole subdomain. That may have occured while they were taking care of repairing things, as the database began working again shortly after the subdomain showed back up. Let’s hope this issue is behind me.

Who’s your hosting through? I have switched to Dream Host, so I could get off of Typepad, and they have been working very well.
