The past few weeks have brought howl-inducing reports about some of the actions that are being used in the war or terror. (You remember, the one to fight those who’s goal is to kill us and destroy our way of life. Yeah, that one.) Democrats, wobblies with R’s, lefties, and TOM who gleefully report it all are calling for a variety of hearings, inqueries, and, in one case, censure of the President and Vice President.
Enough is enough. I’m tired of them getting a pass on all of this. The investigation that we need is the one that finds the source of these leaks and charges those responsible with treason. Jonathan R. at GOP bloggers puts it this way,
leaks have revealed (i) CIA detention facilities for top-level al Qaeda terrorists; (ii) NSA surveillance of suspected terrorist communications; and (iii) FBI monitoring of potential nuclear terror, where is the outrage about national security being impaired? Each of these 3 programs is more critical than the meaningless Plame investigation, but nobody seems to care. Where are the Republicans demanding that the leakers be found and punished?
Here’s one. Me.
Power Line reminds us, “Federal law (18 U.S.C. § 798) prohibits the disclosure of several narrowly defined categories of information, specifically including classified information regarding communications intelligence:”
a) Whoever knowingly and willfully communicates, furnishes, transmits, or otherwise makes available to an unauthorized person, or publishes, or uses in any manner prejudicial to the safety or interest of the United States or for the benefit of any foreign government to the detriment of the United States any classified information—
***
(3) concerning the communication intelligence activities of the United States or any foreign government…
***
Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.
Good. Let’s find them and start the trial. Soon.
