Welcome to the first hour of the twenty four hour Blogathon 2005. Why would anyone want to stay up for that long, posting something new every 30 minutes? I have a very good reason, the Freedom Alliance. Their mission statement reads,

The Mission of Freedom Alliance is to advance the American heritage of freedom by honoring and encouraging military service, defending the sovereignty of the United States and promoting a strong national defense.

One of the main thrusts of the Freedom Alliance is the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund.

The Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund honors the bravery and dedication exhibited by Americans in our armed forces who have sacrificed life and limb by providing educational scholarships to their children.

Students are eligible if they are the dependent child of an active duty service member who died or was permanently disabled (100% rating) in the line of duty, or who is currently certified as POW or MIA. The applicant must also be a senior in high school, a high school graduate, or enrolled in an institution of higher learning, including colleges, universities, or vocational schools.

This is without a doubt a charity I can support whole heartedly. I hope you will support them as well. Please pledge now. As I announced before, The next 10 people who donate at least $5 to the Freedom Alliance will get one of these:

Day by Day button

Sweet, huh? You just have to do two things. 1) Register and make your donation. 2) Send me an email letting me know. Please send it to lakelandjim [at] gmail [dot] com

Also, whoever makes the largest donation between now and the end of the event will recieve something very special. In the event of a tie, I’ll hold a random drawing among those donors. I’ll tell you more about that in the next post.

You know, thirty minutes always seemed like such a long time. Not today!
