Well Duh!

I saw a headline reporting on President Bush’s Tuesday evening address that read, “Democrats criticize Presidents speech.” What’s next? “Night discoverd to be dark”? Of course the Dems critcized his speech, it’s what they do. In fact if that second headline said, “President announces night is dark,” I wouldn’t be surprised if they set up a war-room to refute the findings.
They certainly all had their talking points prepared. Some, as Michelle Malkin pointed out, even before the speech was made. So, what has their collective shorts in a knot?
- The President mentioned 9/11 - This one was at the very top of their list. Pelosi, Reid, Feingold and any other opposition voice TOM could find couldn’t see the red light of a camera without declaring their outrage about any mention of 9/11 and Iraq. Check out the comment sections of most of the blogs mentioning the President’s speech and you’ll see a few troll’s chiming in with faux surprise and outrage about this. I guess if this were WWII and GWB was in the White House they’d find fault with a connection between the war and Pearl Harbor. Their argument has been refuted with facts in many places with Kevin at SoCalPundit providing his usual insightful commentary along with links to many other sources that expose this straw man. Point:Bush - Assist:Right side of the New Media
- He called them Terrorists! - I guess they would have been happier if he had used the “Barneyfied” term, Insurgents. As the AP wrote with astonishment, “He repeatedly referred to the insurgents in Iraq as terrorists. . .” (via Powerline) Hey, Moonbats, here’s a newsflash for you. Car bombers, suicide bombers, and Islamofascists who are killing our troops and Iraqis ARE Terrorists. Or, as I heard when I lived in South Carolina, “A pig is a dress is still pork.”
- There wasn’t anything new here - Well Hell’s Bells, who said there was supposed to be. This speech was a reminder. A reminder made necessary because the left keeps forgetting why we’re in this war they voted for. Of course the President did lay out three new initiatives that are being taken: partnering coalition units with Iraqi units, partnering coalition transition teams with Iraqi forces, and working closely with the Iraqi ministries on stabilization and intelligence.
I’m sure there are other things that upset them about the speech and they seem absolutely giddy about the lack of applause. Please get a clue.
So, a headline like “Democrats criticize Presidents speech” isn’t exactly a shock. Personally I like the one I used yesterday quoting a line from the speech itself, “Our mission in Iraq is clear”.
